Is our Honorable PM Mr. Narendra Modi an All Rounder?

Everyone had huge expectations from Our honorable PM Mr. Modi, to an extent its all panning out quiet well, here is why he has proved to be an all rounder?

Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yohan- As per reports it has been a roaring Success. With just a bit more than 2 Months of its launch 7 Cr Accounts have been opened with Rs.5000 Cr Deposits. But does it really going to make any difference in the life of common man and our economy..? Well its been one of the best scheme being implemented in the Financial space. Not only we have given formal banking access to unbanked population who will get access to fund at much lower rate.. But help them to save money and grow it at the same time. Lets take an example: even if they were saving Rs. 50,000/- p.a. they did not know much to do with this money and would generally keep it in their homes. But now with their bank account they will get at least 4% interest which is good amount of Rs. 2,000/- p.a. And now just adds up the interest for 7 Cr. account holders annual saving.. there money is not just growing but its quiet safe as well.

Infrastructure- There is a lot which needs to be done in infrastructure space for better connectivity between cities and for fast moving of good from business point of view. Earlier governments did started some crucial projects but there implementation was much behind schedule with very less focus on the adjoining border area infrastructure. Mr. Modi knew its importance and started working on it from day one with special focus on Roads near by border areas. Best example is of 2,000 km road from east tawang to Vijay Nagar in Arunachal Pradesh which is of significant importance for safety, military capabilities and to reduce native population from migrating to big cities.

Swatch Bharat Campaign- Many will criticize current government and may even term politicians as photo opportunist. But i have never seen a national campaign create so much awareness. India has had cleanliness issue since long and every one knew about it. But very few steps were taken to do much about on such large scale. Clean India movement will not only curb spreading of epidemics but also improve tourism prospects and healthy living. Finally we have a leader who does not shy sway to accept this as a problem even in an international stage where he requested NRI's to come forward and take pledge to clear Hole river Ganga. This has opened up a new window of funding and may not even require any funding from government at all.

Connecting with the Masses through Mann ke Baat- Remember last time when you heard your leader speak on a radio? We often forget that more than 50% of India still lives in Rural India and just one third of rural households own a TV set. No matter how much good work you do or launch new social schemes for the common man. If you can't connect with them through constant communication chances are that they are going to feel that they are being left out. Response of his fortnightly address "Mann ke Baat" has been so good that villagers and people from all corners of India come together and listen to their PM who gives them hope of good days ahead for India.

Finally an All Rounder who knows how to play on different pitches and can bat against all types of bowling attack..

The congress rest turns to its old roots…

When the Bombay stock market index went through the roof the Monday after the election results were declared on Saturday, forcing a shut down after barely a minute or two of automatic trading, the consensus was that the punters were expressing their unadulterated joy at the victory of the congress. And now as per the understanding that the UPA will not need the support of Left which is believed to be anti reforms. In this economic situation the congress has done a very good job to go with the continuation of the ministry.

Reforms are not new to the congress; this is actually congress going back to its own roots, to its old leftist self. Socialism is the congress’s DNA and in the very being of the Nehru-Gandhi family. Under Nehru, who came under the influence of the British socialist movement of the early 20th century the Congress brought about land reforms and set up large public sector companies, under Mrs. Indira Gandhi the banks and the oil companies were nationalized and garibi hatao was launched, Rajiv Gandhi the father of Indian economic liberalization introduced panchayati raj and now Sonia Gandhi dedicated the party to the cause of the aam aadmi.

Mr. Obama and his policies..

Well friends. This is the first post for this blog... And people might say why we have chosen him... Let’s go back to the history; Mr. Obama is a graduate of Columbia University and is the first African American President in the history of the United States. This gentleman has taken very good decisions lately and has been up to the expectations of the people till now. We must appreciate that he has a vision of making earth green and has actually a goal to cut the green house gas emissions by 80%, a committee has already been set up in this regard which will spend $50bn dollars on this project. I know some might think that why do we need such huge investment in this economic downturn in this unimportant sector, when people are being laid off, companies are going bankrupt. But it does make sense to invest in the future as the electricity bills will by cut by a huge amount and not only this, it will also generate more jobs in the economy, as more R&D labs will be created. Coming over to the recent announcement made by meeting one of his major election promises, that those companies who outsource their work to other locations like Bangalore will no more be given tax incentives, but companies which will create jobs right here in U.S. will get. Some of us will view this as a very drastic step taken by the govt. and very backward approach. It’s like first you give a candy to a kid and then take it back without it being eaten. Firstly, those companies which have actually outsourced their work have become very competitive and are saving huge amount of money, this really does make a business sense. Also not long ago US govt. has also proposed H1B visa legislation to curb US companies to issue them which companies issue to the person of foreign location to come and give their expertise on some particular work. So lot of efforts has been made by the U.S. govt. to save jobs in America. But, think if each country start controlling the business of their territory does we really support globalization then? Imagine if Microsoft announces that we are going to withdraw all the windows operating system from the rest of the world, because by using American technologies Asian economies have overtaken us and they are now started to dominate the world. This is not the solution of the problem. We have to think of alternative ways to create opportunities. I would like to quote motto of Sherwood school “let each one merit his own prize”.

Rock The Vote

It is too easy to forget what it really means to be the world's largest democracy, especially for those of us who remain relatively unaffected by the vagaries of Indian politics because we can buy our way out of most problems the government can't solve. For the past few decades, India's educated elite have taken less interest in politics than the uneducated masses. And this has probably been the greatest reason why India's infrastructure, health and basic education have maintained 3rd world standards even while the educated elite have rocketed up to international levels of wealth. India's intellectuals have been too busy making money for themselves to bother with societal issues, and so some of the most challenging problems in India remain unsolved. But it is time that we educated elite realize how valuable our freedom is to our continued prosperity; the world's largest democracy will crumble if we do not begin to participate actively in its well being. We must understand that the plight of the uneducated masses is our own plight, and that it is our responsibility to raise all of India to greatness. If we - who can read and write, who understand why minority rights must be protected, why women should have equal standing as men, and why religious tolerance is essential - do not vote, then how do we expect our democracy to continue to function in a sensible manner? Uneducated voters are more likely to be swayed by manipulative politicians with corrupt agendas and are less likely to understand which government policies will benefit them in the long-run. If we hope to see any improvement in things like water quality, health, education, and sexual freedom, we must make our voices heard by ballot, not just on blogs. A successful democracy encourages voting by all its people, but it demands the active participation of its most educated.

With 50 million new voters are in line to excercise their votes for the first time- there are few things if we all keep in mind before choosing the candidate of our choice. and help in making it the biggest election ever.

Ask these questions to yourself before you prepare for the big day..

  1. is he / she a good person (or, does he / she seem like a scummy, corrupt bastard)?

  2. is he / she at least as educated as I am?

  3. is he / she open to new perspectives?

  4. is he / she tolerant towards opposing beliefs (or, is he / she a fundamentalist)?

  5. does he / she understand economics?

  6. does he / she genuinely view poor people as humans who deserve basic rights (or, is he / she just trying to win their votes)?

  7. is he / she aware of the world, and the importance of our country's relationship to other countries?

Why are Muslims the victims?

1. The creation of Pakistan as a homeland for the subcontinent’s Muslims in 1947 and then the aggressive/militant actions of Pakistan against India. In the last 25 years the random terrorist attacks on civilians in India. All this has kept the pot boiling against Indian Muslims and the reaction against Muslims continuing. In the decade preceding 1947 the Muslim League campaign of th “Two Nation” ideology did much to damage Hindu-Muslim relations for a long time to come among the Hindus.

2. Total silence from 53 Muslim countries (other than Pakistan) to say even one word against any of the worst oppression and harassment of masses of Muslims and their institutions in 60 years. Many of the energy rich Muslim countries have continued to supply oil/gas at preferential terms to India and have continued to give lucrative contracts to Indian companies. Thus Indian Hindus are quite sure that Indian Muslims have no international sympathizers

3. The resurgence of religion based politics initiated by BJP in the early 1980s; other groups picked up on it and a sort of competition began among them to become more aggressive against Muslims.

4. The Congress party’s Vote Bank politics directed at Muslims where the party made all sorts of cosmetic gestures just before every national election without giving any real help to improve the community’s security or socioeconomic situation. In the last decade other regional parties and even Communists have picked up this strategy and are benefitting from it.

5. The international Islamophobic environment following 9/11/2001 and the irrational terrorist acts of a handful of Muslims. This has given an opportunity to the anti-Muslim elements in the Indian Government to develop discriminatory policies against Muslims.

6. The continued poor socioeconomic and educational status of the Muslim communities that prevents integration at equal level of Muslims with others in the country at large.

Is India really secular?

We brand our selves as a secular nation infront of others. Actually we are more secular than secular. feeling of being secular is being forced on to us by government, textbooks, schools and our families. we, in my belief is the only country which has faced lot of communal riots be it 1984 anti sikh riots, 1992 mumbai riots, 2003 godhra kand.. the list seems just endless. Majority of our population being illiterate, makes it easy for our political parties to play with it. Speading hatred among communities is the best example of vote politics which we have here in our democratic india. it was not long ago when a senior BJP leader was cuaught red handed in front of camera giving ill-hatred sppech against other community. recently a political leader in the souhtern india heard saying in favour of LTTE chief. Truth is infront of all of us to see about the LTTE. How much harm it has caused to our democracy, when a senior congress leader was gunned down by them. It is not the india which our political leaders have dreamt of while forming the constitution. It is time to come out of sleep and excercise our votes in the coming elections, not for in the name of religion, caste, politicla party. But, for the candidate who can bring us out of this turmoil and make us truly secular not just by terming it as, but in the true sense.
